R&D Innovation for Wireless & IT

The Center of Excellence in Wireless & Information Technology is a $250 million dollar government / industry / academic partnership leading the next wave of the wireless and information technology revolution. Its mission is to conduct world class interdisciplinary research in the emerging critical technologies, foster new enterprise development, address the technology worker shortage and become a world leader in wireless and information technology. CEWIT has over 70 affiliated faculty and staff, 190 Ph.D. students, an industrial advisory board, an international advisory board, a technology council and a project management team with superior experience handling the needs of industry.

As the construction of the new CEWIT building progresses (100,000 additional square feet of lab and incubator space will be available in August, 2008), we continue to occupy 15,000 square feet of active R&D lab space on the campus of Stony Brook University.  These labs are equipped with cutting edge hardware and software including a 3-D Immersive Virtual Reality Environment.   Because of our wide ranging specialization in wireless and information technology, we partner with companies of all sizes in search of the most innovative solutions to their technology needs. Our services are available to all companies, including but not limited to the following industries:  healthcare, transportation and logistics, mobile commerce, financial services and manufacturing. Our research focus covers Wireless Networking and Traffic Management, Effective Bandwidth Utilization, Pervasive and High-speed Computing, Radio and Digital Communication, 3-D Visualization, Ad-hoc Networks, Digital Signal Processing, Cyber Security, Wireless Reality, Computer Vision, Networks, Virtual Reality, Bioinformatics, Expressive Networks, Data Mining and Computational Neuroscience. Our interdisciplinary studies, many of them supported by federal or state funding agencies, range across a broad spectrum of wireless and information needs: from intelligence and mobile networks, to defense against potential threats to the country's critical information infrastructure, mobile code security, and automated adaptive intrusion response.

As you can see by viewing our partner and sponsor pages, we are continuing to forge relationships with companies who can benefit from our many resources.  To start a relationship call 631 632 4628.
